Rhode Island is located in the New England region of the northeastern United States.  It is the smallest state by area, and the seventh least populous, but interestingly the second most densely populated.  About 14% of it’s total area is large bays and inlets.  The capital of Rhode Island is Providence, and it is also its largest city.
